What to expect from the surgery?

- The surgeon will make incisions on the back surface of the ear, strategically positioned within the natural creases where the ear meets the head. This ensures that the incisions are discreet and minimize visible scarring.
- Through the incisions, the surgeon will access the cartilage and reshape it to achieve the desired ear position. Excess cartilage may be removed or repositioned, and sutures will be used to hold the cartilage in its new position. This process allows the ears to be brought closer to the head, reducing their prominence.
- Once the cartilage has been reshaped, the surgeon will close the incisions using sutures. These sutures may be placed deep within the cartilage to provide long-lasting support. External sutures may also be used to secure the ear in its new position. A dressing or bandage will be applied to protect the ears during the initial healing phase.
What to expect after the surgery?
- As the swelling subsides over a few weeks, you will begin to notice the final results of your otoplasty. Your ears will appear more natural and aesthetically pleasing, achieving a balanced position relative to your head. It’s important to note that individual healing times may vary, and it may take several months for your ears to fully settle into their new position.
